A promising opening batsman, Bangalore-born Abhijit Joshi is part of USA's squad for the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He featured in five of his side's matches in the global qualifying event, although his highest score was only 28. Joshi finished fifth in the leading run scorers list at the Clico International Under-15 event in the Caribbean in 2008, but was barred owing to a lack of cohesion between the various regional organisations in the USA. He was later presented with a special award at the Central East Regional tournament by a vice president of USACA recognising his performances in the West Indies.
